Lecce is a historic city in southern Italy, as well as one of the most important cities of Puglia. Because of the rich Baroque architectural monuments found in the city, Lecce is commonly nicknamed "The Florence of the South". The city also has a long traditional affinity with Greek culture. Walking around Lecce means to get lost in a fairtale. I feel a special connection to this town, since I studied art in Lecce's University and had here my first job satisfactions! I consider Lecce my second home and I deliver my tours here since long time!
The visit starts usually from Porta Napoli (but you can ask for another meeting point such as your hotel/train station/bus station. . . ) and follows to some of the most beautiful private palaces and churches: of course we will pass by Marrese Palace and stop at the Cathedral Square, where will be the best time to have a photo. After a visit at a laboratory of papier-machè, we will reach Sant'Oronzo's Square, which houses one of the few vestiges of the ancient Lupiae. After passing by some secret gardens and beautiful balconies and hidden streets, the tour will ends with a visit to the masterpiece symbol of the city: the church of Santa Croce.
