I have a true passion for the Medici Family and would love to take you to this amazing museum. The Medici had three popes, two queens of France and the first Duke in Europe with African features. Learn about the Medici Dynasty and the transformation of the building from the palace of the government into the private residence of Duke Cosimo I de Medici. Explore the Hall of the Five Hundred. Wander through the amazing rooms of Palazzo Vecchio, whose colorful frescoes and paintings were meant to celebrate the Medici dynasty, Cosimo I and his wife, Eleonora di Toledo. Enjoy incredible works of art, such as Michelangelo's "Genius of Victory" and Donatello's "Judith and Holofernes" statues. Admire the Hall of Geographical Maps and its 53 maps . Climb to Palazzo Vecchio's crenelated battlements, (130 feet, 40 meters, above the Piazza della Signoria ) and its tower (311-foot, 95-meters tall), Florence's second highest viewpoint after the Cathedral's Dome. After 233 steps what you'll see will be breathtaking.
On this one and a half hours tour we will visit the Palazzo Vecchio Museum: - The Hall of the Five Hundred. - The Apartments of Leo X. - The Apartments of the Elements. - The Apartments of the Duchess Leonora. - Dante's death mask. - The Chapel of the Signoria (Cappella dei Priori) - The Audience Hall and the Hall of Lilies. - The Hall of Geographical Maps. - The Vecchia Cancelleria (Old Chancellor's Office). Arnolfo's Tower is an option. However, if you decide to add it to the tour expect to see the following on the way up: - The prison cell called the Alberghetto (little hotel) where Cosimo The Elder in 1433 and Savonarola in 1498 were imprisoned. - The Marzocco Lion with the Lily of Florence. - The bells (2 bell chambers, that host the bell called Martinella, to summon all the citizens, the Midday bell and the Chiming bell) . - The ramparts. - The best panoramic view of Florence. This tour as a whole or partially, can be customized to fit your preferences - please inquire!
