We will start our tour from the physical center of the town, understanding how and why Florentia - the ancient Roman colony - became the 2nd largest town of Europe in the 1200s, and later turned into the most important artistic and cultural town of Europe. After reaching its political center, we will discuss the major role played by the Medici family and its remarkable contributions to the astonishing development of the city. We will then visit the Uffizi Gallery - the oldest museum created in modern Europe - and discover priceless masterpieces, including the ones by Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael. We will continue our journey through the main medieval district, where Dante Alighieri - Inferno's poet - was born, reaching the unique Duomo complex, one of the most astonishing religious sites ever built on Earth. We will finally end our tour inside the Accademia museum, in front of the magnificent statue of Michelangelo's David.
The main landmarks included in the itinerary are: - Uffizi Art Gallery from the inside - Republic Square - the ancient Roman town center - Signoria Square and town hall, Palazzo Vecchio from the outside - Ponte Vecchio, the Old Bridge - Duomo from the inside - Medieval district and Dante's house - Accademia museum - with Michelangelo's David, from the inside Uffizi and Accademia Gallery are closed on Mondays.
