Florence, a city of timeless art and beauty, shares an intimate bond between creativity and cuisine. Tuscany’s gastronomic pride, rooted in humble origins and ancestral recipes, reflects centuries of tradition. Since the days of Arts and Corporations, when butchers, trattorias, and osterias united under a shared craft, food has been a cornerstone of Tuscan culture. This deep reverence for food is immortalized in Renaissance masterpieces like the still-life works at the Uffizi Gallery. Today, Florence continues to celebrate its culinary heritage with exceptional local products and vibrant markets. Explore the historic Mercato Centrale, designed in the 1870s by architect Mengoni when Florence was Italy’s capital, and Sant’Ambrogio Market, another Mengoni gem. These bustling hubs invite you to savor authentic Florentine flavors and embark on a tasting journey that captures the essence of the city.
Enjoy a stroll through the streets of the historical center of Florence: - Beginning in Piazza Della Repubblica, where we make a coffee stop at one of the oldest Florentine cafes - On to Orsanmichele: where the Butcher's Guild was headquartered - San Lorenzo's food market - Ending in Sant'Ambrogio's market with local tastings (schiacciata, coccoli, crostini, bruschetta…depending on seasonal availability) -If you have any dietary restrictions please let me know. -The Market is closed in the afternoon and on Sunday, but it's open on the first floor for tasting. The itinerary can be customized to your preferences and changed according to the opening hours of the shops. -Please write me if there are people with mobility problems and if you use or need a wheelchair, the itinerary will be different.
