We will start your Renaissance journey from Palazzo Vecchio - the centre of the political power since the early 1300's - where you will be able to understand the major role played by the Medici family, and its remarkable contributions for the artistic and cultural development of the city. We will then proceed with the exploration of the Uffizi Gallery - the oldest museum created in modern Europe - where chronologically you will be guided to appreciate and comprehend the significance of priceless masterpieces - including the ones by Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio. We will continue our journey through the medieval district - on our way to the unique Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore - to finally end our tour inside the Accademia museum, in front of the magnificent statue of Michelangelo's David. Florence is the city with the highest density of artworks per citizen, and the most famous among them are in the 2 most visited art galleries of Italy, that are here in town!
The main landmarks included in the tour itinerary are: - Signoria Square and town hall, Palazzo Vecchio (outside) - Uffizi Art Gallery (inside) - Medieval district - Duomo complex - Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral with Brunelleschi's dome Giotto's bell tower, and Baptistery (outside) - Accademia Museum - with Michelangelo's David (inside) Uffizi and Accademia Gallery are closed on Mondays The itinerary could be on the reverse according to Accademia/Uffizi time slot tickets The best time to start this tour is at 8:30/9:00 am and 1:30 pm (to avoid the crowds inside the Uffizi museum).
