Full Day Trip from Cagliari: Osini, Ulassai, Jerzu in Ogliastra

This area of Ogliastra is my home region and I would love to show it to you. It is one of the blue zones with the highest frequency of centenarians in the world. It offers to the visitor majestic mountains, precipitous valleys, fascinating ghost towns frozen in 1951 when catastrophic landslides led to their abandonment, and plenty of opportunities for authentic experiences. Overlooking the towns, on limestone plateaus (called Taccus = Heels) covered by oak forests, we will have breathtaking views from the ancient towers of Nuraghe Serbissi, built over 3, 000 years ago. On the valley steep slopes, the innovative textile cooperative Su Marmuri joins tradition and contemporary art. Maria Lai, the world-class artist, is the core of the exhibit at the Stazione dell'Arte Museum, a historic railroad station. We will also taste some wine at one of the Cannonau capitals, Jerzu, and enjoy the tour of the town's historic center, with its old buildings, ironwork-decorated balconies, and an amazing historic cemetery.
