Megiddo - Kibbutz Ein Shemer - Lunch at a local restaurant - Caesarea.

MEGIDDO - Located in the Jezreel valley at a strategic junction on the Via Maris (the main ancient highway between Egypt & Syria). It is therefore a major archaeological site & is according to Protestant belief, the site of the final battle between good & evil, namely Armageddon. KIBBUTZ EIN SHEMER - Early 20th century attempts to establish a resident community on the site failed. During the British Mandate Period (1917-1948) a Zionist socialist workgroup arrived on site in 1921and established roots, as evidenced by the fortified courtyard. LUNCH: Humus lunch at a local resturant in the area. CAESAREA - Where King Herod worked his architectural magic developing the port/city which he dedicated to the Roman emperor Augustus Ceaser. Later additions were added by the Crusaders. The port/city has an extensive Jewish, Christian & Islamic history.
