I will take you to the hidden stone forts where locals lived many centuries ago close to the coast for protection and shelter from invading ships on the seas. This private motor tour of the famous Ring of Kerry will start in Killarney and take you on a journey of dramatic sea views, sheer cliffs and ever changing skies. Rural sheep farming is a way of life here, carried on in green fields and valleys divided by ancient stone walls.

Your tour will travel through quaint villages and towns dotted along the coastal route with their old world pubs, restaurants and craft centres and a unique local Chocolate Factory outlet. Depart Killarney and travel westwards through varied landscape towards the western tip of the peninsula where we will have spectacular views of the Skellig Islands. Visit Cahergall fairy fort and stop for photos at McCarthy's 15th-century castle before taking the car ferry to Valentia. Stop at Portmagee for lunch.

Continuing on via the Sceilg Ring towards Killarney via the colourful village of Sneem & and the Killarney National Park, we will get wonderful views of the 'famous lakes of Killarney'.

On the Ring of Kerry Tour we will travel around the Iveragh Peninsula with magnificent views Irelands highest Mountain Range, passing through the towns of Killorglin, Glenbeigh and Caherciveen, and see the fishing village of Portmagee. View the Skellig Islands where Star Wars filmed part of two of their movies The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. We can also visit the Skellig Experience Information Centre.

We then travel over a mountain pass and onto through the village of Ballinskelligs and Waterville where Charlie Chaplin had a Holiday Home.

Leaving Killarney we climb the hill at Aghadoe to view the deep blue glacial lakes, with the green tree covered mountains behind before we head west through lush green farmland where cattle and sheep graze peacefully.
Driving through Killorglin town you will hear a story of its 400 year old fair. Further along the landscape changes as we get our first sight of the rugged Atlantic coastline.
As we drive I will tell you the history of the area and its people and teach you some words and phrases "as Gaeilge" in the Irish language.

Killarney National Park is the jewel in the crown of Kerry's Tourism industry. Created from two estates and opened in 1932, it's Ireland's oldest national park and also now a UNESCO biosphere reserve. It is a rich and diverse area full of nature and history.

Having grown up in Killarney, I perhaps took the park for granted but now looking back I was so lucky to have such an expanse of nature right on my doorstep. It was, effectively, my playground, and my friends and I spent years playing and exploring in the park, so it does bring up many memories.

Killarney National Park is far too big to walk, so what better way to experience it than with bicycles! On this tour, we will ride through the park stopping at some of the most famous places such as Ross Castle, Muckross House, Muckross Abbey, etc.

Dingle Peninsula Private Day trip including Slea Head Drive

In my 20 odd years touring Ireland as a guide, my favourite of all tours is this one. Green fields, white sandy beaches and the rugged Wild Atlantic Way. Sheep, seagulls, donkeys and Dingle harbour which even has its own resident dolphin called 'fungie'. Dingle which is a beautiful colourful town with quirky shops and some great restaurants serving the best of seafood.
Then on towards Slea Head where some of the filming of 'Ryan's Daughter' took place. There are amazing views onto the Blasket Islands in the Atlantic ocean, & they say on a day with good visibility you can see the statue of liberty!
You will hear all about my childhood summers spent here learning 'gaelic' as this is one of the few parts of Ireland where people speak it. We will visit Gallarus Oratory and hear all about St Brendan's voyage. . . he discovered America before Columbus. We return via Camp & stunning views of Tralee Bay.

I grew up in Limerick and my early years in the summer months were spent exploring County Clare, The Burren and many visits to the iconic Cliffs of Moher, the most famous and spectacular sea cliffs in Europe, rising 720 feet above sea level and offering stunning views of The Aran Islands.

The Cliffs of Moher are a place of wonder that never cease to amaze. I have visited them so many times but I will always take the walk out on to the cliffs as each day at the cliffs brings a new experience of nature and birdlife. Most visitors to the Cliffs of Moher only get to experience the cliffs at the visitors centre. I can bring you to different vantage points on the cliffs that are less crowded and so enjoyable.

The limestone landscape of the Burren is crisscrossed by a network of lesser travelled roads that I am familiar with from many years travelling them and I love to bring visitors to these "off the beaten path" trails. A visit to this part of the west coast of Ireland will live long in the memory.
