Rising hundreds of metres above the pounding surf, the Cliffs of Moher are Ireland's most famous tourist attraction, drawing 1,000,000 visitors annually. To avoid the crowds, take a private Ennis tour and make memories that will last a lifetime. Stretching 12 kilometres along the coast of County Clare, the Cliffs of Moher have been drawing visitors since the 1800s, when Sir Cornelius O'Brian built a viewing platform - modestly named O'Brian's Tower - believing tourism would lift the area out of poverty. A local guide can transport you to lesser-visited sections of the cliff heads, and can take you to observe the nests of thousands of seabirds that make their homes in the nooks and crannies of the rock face. Hugging the banks of the river Fergus, the town of Ennis makes a perfect home base. Stroll pedestrianized Parnell street, then wander down the narrow back lanes, where you'll more than likely chance upon pubs serving perfectly-pulled pints of Guinness and plenty of craic.
