Ancient Castles of Fingal Full Day Tour

This is a tour of the ancient land called Fingal just north of Dublin City and minutes from the airport. There are monasteries from the dawn of Christianity, Viking villages and settlements, Round Towers, Norman Keeps and Great Houses of the gentry. But most of all there are ancient castles. We visit stunning Swords Castle newly refurbished but still resonant of its ancient heyday. Malahide Castle ancient seat of the Talbot family has fabulous gardens, and the interior harks back to the days when the Anglo Irish ascendancy held sway with ornate halls and state rooms Baldungan Castle looms large on a head land overlooking the sea. It is surrounded by the graves of the locals going back a millennium. The site of the Cromwellian Massacre and an ancient monastic settlement We have lunch and a pint in the ancient Man O War pub Ardgillan Castle overlooks the Irish Sea to the Mountains of Mourne and Lambay Island where the Vikings invaded in the 8th century. We have coffee there in the 19th century drawing room.
