Join me on a delicious and historic journey through Cork, a city rich in heritage and often called Ireland’s foodie capital. On this tour, you'll discover Cork’s most iconic landmarks, while also venturing off the beaten path to uncover the authentic heart of the city. But it’s not all about walking—along the way, we’ll make three food stops where you can savour exceptional local artisan produce and dishes. You’ll sample foods directly from the producers and enjoy creative meals crafted with the freshest local ingredients. Immerse yourself in the true essence of Cork. As we explore, you’ll learn about the city’s fascinating history—from its medieval roots to the Vikings, Normans, English rule, and Irish rebellions. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a wealth of knowledge and a happy, satisfied stomach. Be sure to come hungry!
- We will begin at Emmett Place, by Cork's Opera House and The Crawford. Here, you'll learn about the history of this area. - We’ll cross the River Lee passing the Butter Exchange, as we visit the renowned Shandon Bells. You’ll climb the Shandon Tower, with a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city and get to play a tune on the famous Shandon Bells. - We will continue on to the famous English Market, which is also our first food stop. You'll meet local producers and sample a variety of products. - The second food stop is to try local seafood with a glass of wine. - We'll pass the National Monument as we head to St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral, with roots dating back to the 600s. - Then on to Elizabeth Fort, witness to many battles. - Our third food stop is on the lush grounds of Nano Nagle Place. - Then a stroll to our final stop, a creamy pint of stout at a proper Irish pub.
