Panaji Historical City Tour - Half Day Exploration for Hotel Guests in Panjim and North Goa.

Fontainhas (little fountain in Portuguese) is a latin quarters, at the foot of the hills. It is one of the main attractions in the city and there is not best way to explore it than with a local. You will enjoy the local atmosphere while seeing the colourful buildings and learn about the history.

This will be just the beginning of our historic tour as I will bring you to the Reis Magos Fort, the oldest fort in Goa. It has been restored and it is today a cultural and heritage centre. It is worth to be visited.

The Dudhsagar Falls are amongst the top 100 highest waterfalls in world and one of second highest in India. Situated on the border of Goa and Karnataka, it takes a steep plunge almost 310 meters down in the wooded mountains of the western Ghats.
These magnificent falls are located in a blissful tropical jungle with crisscrossing streams. The view from the top of the falls is breathtaking. The falls looks even better at magical light of dawn. also chances of seeing some wild animals , birds , spiders, tadpoles, monkeys and some wild plants.

The former capital city of Goa today called Velha Goa/Old Goa (formerly Cidade de Goa) and dubbed Rome of the East and Lisboa of the East during the heights of her glory is today a simple religious centre for Roman Catholicism and the only area in the entire state of Goa designated by UNESCO as a 'World Heritage Site'.

Starting from the Viceroy's Arc; I decode mysteries of the city and its architecture from the Goan style Gateway of India helping my visitors identify the 1st man who discovered the sea route to India from Europe to the significance of St. Catherine of Alexandria in the city and the fallout from the bubonic plague that ravaged the city during the mid-18th century.

I still can't imagine this city having a population of 2, 00, 000 once upon a time to today being just over 25000 inhabitants today.
Of the many things still left to see are the ruins & standing architecture that over a glimpse of the past in what was a thriving port town.

This is one of the most exciting tours for me as a tour guide as a child growing up I was always fascinated by the intriguing stories told by my grandparents about what the former capital was in the bygone days.
