Cochin-Kerala

We will pick you up from the Cochin Port International cruise Terminal. A drive of 1 hour 15 minutes follows to Alappuzha backwaters exploring the interior villages and life of people.
On reaching Alappuzha Board a prebooked exclusively for you and your companions. 
Houseboat start cruising into the rivers, narrow canals and the famous Vembanadu Lake flanked all the by paddy fields and villages of rice farmers lying below sea level.
Afternoon sit for a lunch while cruising. A traditional lunch  is served by the chef of the houseboat. 
After lunch sit and relax in the lobby or go for a siesta in the bedrooom. 
After 3 hours cruising check out from the houseboat and drive back to the Cochin Port.

The Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast of Kerala state in southern India. The backwaters have a unique ecosystem: freshwater from the rivers meets the seawater from the Arabian Sea. Many unique species of aquatic life including crabs, frogs and water birds such as terns, kingfishers, darters and cormorants and turtles live in and alongside the backwaters.
The kettuvallams (Kerala houseboats) in the backwaters are one of the prominent tourist attractions in Kerala. The kettuvallams were traditionally used as grain barges, to transport the rice harvested in the fertile fields alongside the backwaters. Ketuvallams are motorized but generally proceed at a slow speed. Ketuvallams have generators and bedrooms are air-conditioned. Food is cooked on board by accompanying staff, mostly having a Kerala flavor.

KODANAD ELEPHANT TRAINING CAMP; Kodaanad has one of the largest and most visited elephants Training centers in South India. This rustic riverside village is situated near the Periyar River. Elephants captured or rescued, are specially trained here for safari. These training sessions are conducted by the specially trained mahout. This training center also owns a mini zoo with lots of wild animals. Kodanad elephant training camp is about 42 km from Cochin city.
ATHIRAPALLY WATERFALLS; is one of the most popular tourist places in Kerala. , which attracts tourists all year round. This splendid waterfall, about 80 feet high, is located at the entrance of Sholayar ranges.

Houseboats once were spice boats or rice boats which used to carry black pepper, ginger, cardamom, cloves, turmeric, and later cashew nuts, tea coffee, rice, rubber and coir. The spice boats now innovated into luxury houseboats for hosting tourists from world over.

Made from teak it has caulked hull with bamboo roof. Bedrooms spacious for two and laid with Cambridge white bed linen and have attached powder rooms. This house boat meanders through the backwaters studded with coconut groves and lush green paddy fields. Paddy fields attract us as they lie below sea level.

Kochi was a fishing village in the Kingdom of Kochi in the pre-colonial Kerala. Kochi is also known as the "Queen of Arabian Sea", and was the centre of Indian spice trade for many centuries. Because of her rich spice history, many foreign traders were attracted to Kochi.

Kochi was the first european colony for the Portuguese in colonial India from the year 1500-1663, followed by the Dutch and later by the British. It is the old buildings which most clearly reveal this deep-rooted colonial influence. In 1947, when India gained independence from the British colonial rule, Cochin was the first princely state to join the Indian Union willingly.

During the tour in Fort Kochi, we will discover the traditional landmarks of historical Kochi, which includes ancient Chinese fishing nets, the historical European settlements like Vasco de gama church and dutch cemetary, and towards the Dutch palace, a museum under ASI, and spend time walking through the historical Jewish street towards the Jewish synagogue.
