Exotic Aurangabad and Silk Weaving Tour

Aurangabad is an old city which dates back to centuries. It has a checkered history of several invasions and change of rulers. Each rule left its mark on the architecture of the city. The tour will begin at Shagunj, the oldest trading market and walk its streets, from there we will visit a historical Gurdwara and examine some old documents, which were written by Guru Govind Singh and sent to Aurangzeb some 320 years ago. From there we will go to Gulmandi, the heart of the old city, and have a look at a very old temple there. We then walk the narrow roads of the bazaar looking at shops selling a variety of goods catering to requirements of the locals. After this, we drive to the traditional weaving style of Aurangabad known as Himroo Himroo weavers were brought by Mohammad Tughlak when he shifted his capital from Delhi to Daulatabad in the 14th century. The intricately handwoven shawl takes about 3 weeks to make and requires 2 persons. One man pulls the string and weaver weaves with 2-3 color weft threads.
