With the Big Buddha being one of the most desired attractions here, it is often being missed due to its location and accessibility, yet this is the top attraction in Hong Kong. The NongPing360 cable car is the utmost direct transport up the mountain but often come with an hour wait in lining up before being loaded and vice versus. Not only time consuming but also missing out on some of the other amazing locations offered on Lantau, which the majority of its locations are situated within the restricted roads of Lantau where only limited vehicles are allowed to drive into the area. This tour provides full access into the restricted area with our vehicle taking you from anywhere in the city to Buddha direct! Look no further in seeing what Lantau has to offer in full and only within half a day so you can spend more of your valuable time enjoying Hong Kong.

Your Lantau island tour itinerary

We will begin from your hotel lobby, cruise ship, airport head straight to Lantau. The drive from the city will be around 45 minutes and will first explore Pui O which is a historic old seaside village right in the middle of South Lantau island. We will be able to see historic monuments that were built since the late 19th century including ancestral halls and as well as the Tin Hau temple that was built in 1798. Then, we will head towards Tai O fishing village in seeing "the Venice of Hong Kong" experiencing fisherman style living with its stilt houses right by the water, Kwan Tai temple built since 1741, the traditional shrimp paste and salted fish storefronts and of course beautiful water scenery that words cannot describe, only seeing is believing. We head up to Nong Ping to visit the giant Buddha, the Po Lin Monastery, Path of Wisdom and snacks at the temple and a stroll down Nong Ping village. This drive will be a truly amazing half day out seeing the natural sceneries of the untouched parts of HK.

The concept of my tour is to show how us locals live and commute here, what our everyday lives are like to experience the location. We will be commuting by foot, public transport (subways and bus) and taxis, rest assured, our world-renowned public transport system by cleanliness and efficiency will surely take you by surprise. As by "toursbylocals" culture, everyone has a story to tell and you will never go wrong hanging out with a local. I look forward to taking you out to see Hong Kong!

However, tour fee does not cover: Cost of any transportation, meals, drinks, snacks, entrance fees, rides. If you are in Hong Kong for 3 days or more, I would recommend you to get a local "Octopus" card which is a top-up card with credit inside to pay for most transports, vending machines, convenient stores, Starbucks, and many more chain stores. It cost HK$150 and it has got HK$100 credit and $50 as a deposit which you can get back once you return the card. This card will save you a lot of time and hassle with carrying a lot of coins. We can get one together if you are not sure.
