Iximche from Antigua Guatemala private tour

Guatemala's culture has its roots in societies that lived around 3000 years ago, being the Maya the most important of them. Iximche is one of the best examples of the last stage of their history as a Posclassic city founded in the 1470's. It's also the place where the Spanish established their first settlement in what would become the Captaincy General of Guatemala in 1524. After few years, Iximche was abandoned. Iximche isn't only about archaeology but also the present as this site in ruins is considered as a sacred place where Mayan descendants can connect to their ancestors so they make ceremonies almost everyday. Only 5 km away, in the village of Tecpan Guatemala, you'll get to see the dynamics of the present Maya-Kaqchikel people, the traditional market in the streets and remains of the colonial church. To complete this trip you'll be tasting the traditional flavors of Guatemala, as this is a gastronomical route, either it is a churrasco or some tortillas with avocado (guacamol in spanish) and corn atol.
