Join me on this morning hiking tour in Meteora to fully experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site marvel accompanied by a knowledgeable and qualified licensed guide (yours truly). During this guided tour you will have the opportunity to follow the centuries old footsteps of the first monks of Meteora by walking through "hidden trails" that only locals like myself know of. I will take you to the jaw-dropping "hidden" monastery of Ypapanti, located inside a cave, and we'll also see the ancient Ruins of my namesake St. Dimitrios. Additionally we could visit the monastery of Great Meteoron or Varlaam (depending on the day of the hike) as I share all about the history and the spirituality of the monastic life during the visit in the monastery. Last but not least, you will have the time to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views and capture some amazing photos that you will cherish forever.
·After our meeting at your hotel in Kalabaka or Kastraki, we'll depart to the foothills of Meteora from where we will start our hike, from the old trails of the monks to the monasteries of Meteora. ·Along the route, we will make stops for pictures in striking panoramic hidden spots that I know of, which are only reachable by hikers. ·We'll then proceed with a guided visit to either the monastery of Great Meteoron or that of Varlaam (depending on the day you book), where I'll present monastic life and orthodox monastic spirituality to you. ·Afterwards, we'll visit the museum of the monastery and I'll proceed to present its highlights. ·Next, I'll present the frescoes of the chapel of the monastery, using my expertise in 14th and 16th century art. ·Later, I'll lead you to discover the Ypapanti monastery, the most hidden monastery of Meteora, which is located in a cave. ·At last, we'll return to our starting point after approximately 4 hours of tour.

This is a hiking tour that spans a distance of around 6 km. Most of the hotels are close to the starting point of the trails, but in case they are far away we can use the public bus that is going to drop us off at the beginning of the paths.
