Classical Athens Half Day Tour: religion, politics and daily life.

We will start with a visit to the Acropolis Hill, the city's most important religion centre. We will look closely at the main buildings such as the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erectheion, the Parthenon, and the theatre of Dionysus. Next, we will stroll around the narrow streets of Plaka, the city's oldest district with impressive 19th-century neoclassical architecture, while tracing ruins of the classical and roman periods. Then, we will head towards the Ancient Agora, the ancient city's political and commercial centre, largely associated with the birth and evolution of democracy. We will focus on such monuments as the Temple of Hephaestus, which still stands almost intact, the Bouleuterion, where the council of the 500 Athenians met, the Monument of the Eponymous heroes, where all the proposed legislations and announcements were posted, and the Stoa of Attalus, the big market place. Last, we will enjoy the collection of the Museum of the Agora which holds artefacts from the excavation of the area.
