Assos is a small and charming village. Dominated by the ruins of a 16th century Venetian castle and surrounded by old trails, pines, cypresses and terraced fields where we can dover houses over 500 years old. Picturesque and rustic, the beauty of Assos surprises you every moment and in each step. A stroll around the narrow alleys reveals colorful houses with pink and white blooms and old churches. Assos and its surroundings offer fantastic views and breathtaking scenery. Explore the Fortress, one of the largest in Greece, which was built to protect the island from pirate attack.
- We start from a side street near the village of Kothreas. - From a dirt road, the landscape changes and passing through areas of old paths, we end up in Assos. - Then we go up to the Venetian castle by a path from the lower entrance. We'll go around the castle and discover alternative historical periods. We'll also find spots around the walls for pictures. - If you like, at the end of our tour you can swim at the beach under the pin trees and enjoy a soft drink or coffee at the center of Assos.
