A driver carrying your name plate will pick you up at the port and will bring you back to the port. After a roughly 3-hour-drive we will meet in Berlin at the former Summer Residence of the Prussian Rulers close to the City Center West. Living here since I was a young student in the mid-eighties (with short breaks staying in Italy, Romania and USA) I love to share my personal memories with you and describe the special circumstances staying in the divided city, the glorious moment of the fall of the Wall and the none too easy transition to unification. Berlin is a unique place in Germany and I really want that you get a feel of it. The presence is not understandable without the past. The worst part in german history is of course the Nationalsocialist Dictatorship. We'll visit the most important areas connected to this time of persecution and murdering. After the war in rubbles and divided, Berlin became a symbol of the Cold War in Europe. No need to say that you'll also visit remaining pieces of the Wall.
- Palace of Charlottenburg - West-Berlin city center around the Zoo, the Memorial Church and Kurfürstendamm, the "Kaufhaus des Westens" - The Brandenburg Gate - The new government quarter - The Memorial to the Murdered Jews in Europe - The Potsdamer Platz area - Hitler's bunker area and the former quarter of national socialist institutions and ministries, part of it is the exhibition site "Topography of Terror" (outside) - A piece of the Wall and the famous "Checkpoint Charlie" - The Boulevard Under the Linden and the historical city center: Forum Fridericianum, the Museum Island, the Palace square, the Humboldt Forum (outside) - Alexanderplatz - The former jewish quarter with the New Synagogue (outside) - The Bernauer Straße Wall Memorial If you know Berlin already or you have special interests feel free to ask for a customized tour.
