Afterwards we stroll through the enchanted gardens of Schwetzingen Palace, the summer residence of Carl Theodor, Marquis de Kurpfalz. Schwetzingen has been my hometown for over 50 years, and the very first tour I arranged for my classmates to these palace gardens was at the age of seven.
We will have Lunch before we continue to Heidelberg were we will visit the old city center before we had to the castle which will be the icing on the cake to conclude your visit.

 Our main destination will be the charming old village of Deiesheim. Here the main Street is full of traditional 'Weingute"(wineries)where one can soak up the long history of wine-making and of course try the excellent wines.
 The Reislings from this area are particularly highly valued and considered among the very best in the world. But Each vineyard has a wide assortment of wines, both red & white, so that every palate and personal preference will be satisfied.
 There's also a good collection of restaurants in the village where one can enjoy some of the fine local cuisine 'al fresco' in an atmospheric courtyard of a wine estate. Or cosy cafes offering regional dishes.

This 3-hour walking tour of Heidelberg (starting at University Square) takes you through the narrow streets and back alleys of the Old Town. You will be able to taste the best beers in town, chocolate, tapas, local wine and typical German cakes. There will be savoury treats on offer, but the sweet tooth will also be satisfied.
