Meissen & the castle of Moritzburg- a perfect harmony of history, art and nature

Meißen is a medieval gem. Majestically the castle and the cathedral are looking onto the river Elbe. Meißen is the cradle of Saxony. It is here that Saxony was founded and here is the home of the first European porcelain manufacture, too. It is my pleasure to take you there and give the glimpse of the medieval city of Meißen with its ancient castle, famous cathedral and narrow streets and renaissance buildings. And we invite you to the workshop of Europe's first Porcelain Manufacture to see the splendour and learn about the manufacturing process. From the top of the castle hill you can enjoy a unique view onto the city and the vineyards. Why not tasting a glas of Meißen wine? In the continuation of the tour we go to see the castle of Moritzburg, the famous hunting lodge of the Saxon Court. Situated on an Arcadian island and housing a valuable collection of antlers and original furniture it gives a wonderful idea of the life at the Saxon court in the 18th century.
