Overview of your Sarlat tour:

As a professional, practising artist with a BA Honours degree I will be there to teach and guide you. I will show you how to make your own diary journal that you can take with you on all your travels. A great way to record your observations and memories. Discover a magnificent corner of the Dordogne whilst creating a colourful diary journal. With my insights and skills I will be able to help you create something truly original. I will provide the art materials. All abilities welcome, these journals can be as simple or as intricate as you wish. One of my last clients said that he had not drawn since being at school, he became totally enthralled and deteremined to carry on. This is a private tour for you. We will observe and draw one these beautiful Dordogne landscapes/ villages and capture them in a diary journal.

Your Sarlat tour itinerary

I will meet you at a beautiful location near Sarlat or at your hotel. There are several choices which we can discuss. The Garden of Marqueyssac is a perfect setting for example. We will start the day by doing some warm up drawing exercises just to get you at ease with drawing. Then learn some water colour techniques. Time for a simple but delicious lunch. In the afternoon you learn how to create a dairy journal and explore your creativity doing some water colour sketches.

We will meet at a specified location. If you do not have a car I will hire one. Modern, clean, comfortable and air-conditioned. Hiring of the car will necessarily mean an extra fee.

  • Other: Your personal guide/translator/interpreter and trained professional artist as your teacher. Pencils: HB and an eraser. An ordinary, black waterproof ink pen with a medium point. A water-colour brush and a small watercolour paintbox, A5 Dairy Watercolour Journal. Preparation work and notes for you to keep. Drawing boards and exercise paper, plastic water containers. Bottled water in a cooler.
