The battle of Belleau Wood is remembered as one of the most important fights of the 1918 Allied counter-offensive. It took place in june 1918 in the famous Champagne region, about 60 miles east of Paris. It was so important that it is actually considered to be a founding battle of the modern U. S military forces, and to a U. S Marine ear, Belleau still sounds like a sacred name. This tour will allow you to discover how the American forces participated to creating the conditions for the final victory.
Pick up at 7:30am. It takes 1h30 to drive to the site where the battle of Belleau Wood took place. You will visit the beautiful American Cemetery where 2289 soldiers rest for eternity. Then we'll go into the very wood where some of the war scars are still visible. After that, we'll go to the village of Belleau to see the famous Devil Dog Fountain. We'll then drive to the height of Chateau Thierry to visit the magnificent American Monument. Drop off around 1:30pm
