Caen & Bayeux Full Day Tour from Le Havre

Let me introduce you to the two jewels in the crown of Normandy, the cities of Caen where I was born and raised and Bayeux where I have lived for many years. Both of the medieval cities were objectives to be taken by the British and Canadian armies on June 6th 1944. Caen was definitely captured on July 19th but unfortunately destroyed at 70 percent and Bayeux was luckily captured intact on June 7th. In Caen, we'll start at the medieval castle built in 1060 by William the Conqueror who also conquered England in 1066. Next we'll visit the two historic Abbeys of the city. What I want to achieve by doing this tour is to explain to you by showing you different documents and pictures how my city looked before the destructions of WW2. Later, we'll visit LA Ferme de Billy in the village of Rots for lunch, cider and Calvados testing. In the afternoon we'll walk in the streets of Bayeux and we'll visit the 11 century Cathedral and finish with a visit to the British WW2 cemetery. Come along and travel in time!
