It's well known that the city of Bordeaux became one of the most important territories in the kingdom thanks to its wine trade! Over the centuries, new districts were created to make room for large barrel cellars, and the port was divided so that the largest foreign ships could come and take on supplies, while the smaller ships, staying upstream, could deliver their supplies from the hinterland as well. Discover the ancient little town of Chartrons, how the most influential families lived through the centuries, and the conditions under which wine was kept! We'll also look at the transport of slaves and the storage of colonial goods, as well as the transformation of these old warehouses into new living quarters.
Meet me on the quayside (the tour is on foot). Let's walk up the bank of the Garonne together, then into the narrow streets of the Chartrons district. The area is gradually becoming pedestrianized, making for a more pleasant discovery. We'll see some of the merchants' houses and storage areas, the temple and church, and plenty of other surprises... The tramway is nearby, so you can reach many parts of the city afterwards.

You can use the tram to reach me (Quinconces station or CAPC station), however the tour is a walking tour. There are cobblestones sometimes.
Bordeaux, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, 33000 France
The Place des Quinconces is vast: let's meet as close to the river as possible, between the two rostral columns. I usually make a sign with your name, so that we can find each other more easily.
