Join a historian and dive into the study of the slave trade as it once happened in Bordeaux. In the XVIII century Bordeaux was the second most populated city in France and the largest port in the country. Most of its wealth originated from the trade of wine and enslaved people. Ships leaving the port of Bordeaux deported 150, 000 men and women from Africa to America. That story remained untold until recently. On this guided tour, we will discuss the human cost of the slave trade, its economic consequences, and its connection to the abolitionist movements. We will also uncover the visible marks the slave trade left behind as we walk the city streets. * If you need transportation I can provide it
We will pass by Place de la Bourse - Grand Theatre - Monument des Girondins - Statue of Modeste testas - Memorial Slave trade
