If you are visiting Normandy for a few days, this tour is the best way to get an overview of the American participation in D-Day! You will have the chance to discover every aspect of the events that happened in Normandy on June 6, 1944. We will visit the two beaches where US soldiers landed. We will also visit battlefields of the American paratroopers. You will have the chance to explore some of the German bunkers, still bearing the marks of the terrible battle that happened here and showing how fierce were the enemies that the American soldiers faced. Finally, we will have the chance to pay our respects to the thousands of men who paid the ultimate price to liberate Europe by visiting the Normandy American Cemetery. With my professional guiding licence and my 8 years of experience as a D-Day tour guide, I had the privilege to meet some of the veterans that took part in the Normandy invasion, as well as their relatives, and I will be very happy to share their stories with you to perpetuate their legacy.
We will start the day by visiting Omaha Beach, where the US Army suffered their heaviest casualties on D-Day, due to its overwhelming German forces and defenses. Afterward, we will visit the sobering Normandy American Cemetery where 9, 388 soldiers were laid to rest. Then, we will explore Pointe du Hoc. Built on a top of a 100-foot high cliff, this German site had six cannons that were threatening the whole D-Day operation and was attacked by 225 U. S. Army Rangers that had to scale the cliff to attack this position. We will then stop for lunch in Sainte-Mère-Eglise, a small Norman town where the American Airborne operation and where a very unlucky paratrooper landed on the church steeple. We will discover his story together. After this stop, we will go visit Utah Beach, spearheaded in the first wave by 56-year old general Teddy Roosevelt Jr. and the 4th Division. Finally, we will learn the moving story of two medics who set up an aid station in the small village of Angoville and treated 80 comrades.

We will be driving from site to site with a modern (less than 4 years), clean and air-conditioned Volkswagen Caravelle or Mercedes Vito minivan, that can transport 7 passengers (+ driver-guide). On the different sites, we will be walking. I can adapt the amount of walking depending on the clients on the tour.
