Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt, known as "The bride of the Mediterranean Sea ", it has an atmosphere that is more Mediterranean than Middle Eastern. It was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC to be the capital bearing his name. I have been leading tours for 20 years, I know exactly where to stop, what to see and how to enrich your visit. I will show all sites with enough explanation that will make you satisfied and dream of coming back to Egypt to see more of it. You will have the chance to experience the real life of Egyptians and get closer to the culture, you will try Egyptian authentic food and learn how rich is the Egyptian cuisine. Upon arrival we would visit the Citadel of Qaitbay. It is believed to rest on the site of the Pharos lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. we will visit to the Bombay's Pillar, the Catacomb of Komel-Shokafa. The day ends with a visit to the Library of Alexandria one of the most famous in the world. Then we will return to Cairo.
I Will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, cutting across 220 Kilometers of the Western desert toward Alexandria, the bride of the Mediterranean Sea. The trip takes about 3 hours. Upon arrival you would visit the Catacomb of Komel-Shokafa. These tombs were tunneled into the bedrock in (2nd century A. D. ) for a single wealthy family. Next you will visit the Pombay's Pillar, which was built in 297 AD for the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Now it is lunch time, And the best food you could try in Alexandria is sea food. So Lunch would be taken on-route at a popular seafood restaurant. Following lunch you will visit the fort and Citadel of Qaitbay (from outside only), which was built around 1480 By Sultan Qaitbay. It is believed to rest on the site of the famous lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The day ends with a visit to the Library of Alexandria one of the most famous in the world before driving back to Cairo.
