Experience a unique tour in Otavalo carefully designed to introduce you to the local indigenous people, so you can learn how they preserve ancestral traditions and ways of life that have endured for centuries. The Otavalo people are native pre-Hispanic inhabitants of the Andes who maintain their rich cultural heritage. They are known for their industriousness, with commerce and handcrafts being their primary activities. We'll also go on a panoramic journey where you'll admire beautiful landscapes and a productive valley known for its rose cultivation. Our setting will be the stunning province of Imbabura, designated a UNESCO Global Geopark for its geological significance! This recognition celebrates the region's approach to combining conservation with sustainable development while actively involving local communities.
·Initially, I'll pick you up from your hotel & drive along the Panamerican Highway for approximately two hours. ·At a certain time we'll stop at a stunning overlook of both the majestic Imbabura volcano & the San Pablo Lake. ·Next, we'll venture 30 minutes deeper into the rural area to prepare and enjoy a delicious brunch featuring traditional Andean dishes. ·Having reached Peguche, we'll visit a textile workshop where you'll learn about different types of animal wool, traditional weaving techniques, and the process of using natural products to dye wool. ·While in the area, we'll also visit a workshop of Andean musical instruments owned by the Director of a renowned group considered Ecuador's cultural ambassadors to the world. ·Our tour concludes with a visit to La Plaza de los Ponchos, recognized as Latin America's largest indigenous market. ·At last, we'll return via the Panamerican Highway, delivering you back to your hotel.
