The site of Lake Assal attracts geologists and volcanologists. Lake Asal is 157 meters below sea level. It contains the highest salinity (348 g / l), salt floes of 65 km2 and hot springs. An idyllic landscape where the pale green of the lake, the immaculate plank of salt and the blue sky intermingle like a poem frozen in time for centuries. Ardoukoba is located on a very active ocean ridge: the lithospheric cracks visible to the eye open at an average speed of 3 cm per year. The Goubeth Al karab is a beautiful and disturbing cove dominated by Devil's Island, an impressive dome that arose in the middle of the bay during the tectonic movements associated with the formation of the Rift Assal. Accessible by the road which dominates it or by boat, the site is of exceptional beauty.
