Last year, the corona-lockdown, resulted in me travelling around the country to do research at all the important viking sites in Denmark. Aarhus was founded in the viking age and holds a great, and very small, on-site exhibition from the viking age. From there we walk up through history by visiting the impressive Cathedral of Aarhus; the longest and tallest church in Denmark. Its construction began in the year 1190. Further up in history we enjoy a visit to the most extensive Open Air Museum in Denmark; Den Gamle By; like a town in the town. The Museum holds houses and exhibitions from the 1700-1800'ds, from early 1900 and from 1974!! Yes, you read the year correctly; my childhood is now history. In the main season activities from days passed by, taking place here. At the end of our historic line we walk up the stairs and take a walk in the famous Olafur Eliasson installation: "Your rainbow panorama" with a beautiful view over the town, This is at ARoS Art Museum; one of the largest art museums in Europe
Interior visits to: The cathedral of Aarhus. (can be closed due to activities in church). The Viking museum. (Not in weekends) The art museum. Den Gamle By. Here we can also come inside many of the houses. Guided walking tour in the old part of Aarhus town.
