Aarhus - In the footsteps of the vikings - the change to Christianity Half Day Tour

Last year, the corona-lockdown, resulted in me travelling around the country to do research at all the important viking sites in Denmark. This gave me an even bigger insigth into this dramatic period of our history - and gave me what I needed to tour with a quite popular lecture about Viking sites in Denmark. This tour gives you an insight into the period through visits to 3 important sites, telling about the Viking Age and the change from the old Nordic religion to Christianity. We visit and explore the excavated Viking fortress Fyrkat and the reconstructed farmstead from The Viking Age. Fyrkat is one of five ring fortresses-perfectly circular earthen fortresses with four gates and two roads meeting at the center-built by King Harald Bluetooth. The Viking farmstead is a reconstruction of an actual farm excavated near Jelling, the birthplace of Harald Bluetooth. We also visit a beautiful, Romanesque church with fantastic frescoes depicting the Christian Creed.
