Exciting Half Day Walking Tour of Churches, Art Nouveau Buildings and Gothic-Baroque Architecture in Prague

The tour is flexible and all periods of ARCHITECTURE can be covered. The emphasis will be on visiting 4-5 selected churches and discovering the architecture of the 1900s including Art Nouveau, Cubism leading to the modern period.
We will see Gothic and Baroque churches and end the tour at the crypt and church of St. Cyril & Methodius which commemorates the tragic and heroic events that took place after the assassination of Heydrich in 1942. You may have read the book or seen the film: Operation Anthropoid. We take in the interesting exhibits and photos at the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror at the church crypt. We end at the Dancing House on the river and you can take lunch or a drink on a special wooden boat with a great view!

Konopiště Castle Half Day Private Tour by van or car

The Konopiště Castle is located only 40km (25miles) southeast of Prague, so it takes a little bit less than 1 hour to get there.

Konopiště was founded in the 13th century and it used to be a residence of many noble families.
It has been significantly rebuilt by the last owner, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, the archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este at the end of the 19th century. Yes, the one who was assassinated in Sarajevo in 1914, and therefore the WWI began.

Nowadays it belongs to the state of the Czech Republic and it's open to the public.

A visit to its interiors is quite an impressive experience.
Franz Ferdinand was a very rich man and an enthusiastic hunter, so you can admire plenty of original antique furniture, porcelain, paintings, weapons, or trophies in many chambers and halls of the castle. There's also a lake, park, rose garden, and a bear :) in the surroundings.

Let's see the monuments of the most decorative architectural style: art nouveau. Prague has a high concentration of art nouveau buildings designed around 1900. Most of them are considered to be the jewels of Central European architecture. Alfons Mucha, one of the most famous Czech artists, left many traces in Prague and made Czech art nouveau style well known all over the world.
Some art nouveau constructions are situated in the Old Town, some lay on the border of the historical centre. Therefore, during this tour we won't follow tourist crowds but we'll explore places off the beaten track.
For me, as a person interested in arts and architecture, this tour is one of my favourites. Prague is so rich in decorative art nouveau monuments. Even though I pass by them all my life for me they still remain unique and charming.

What is older - Prague castle or Vyšehrad? It is difficult to say. However, without Vyšehrad there will be no Prague, I can guarantee that to you.
Vyšehrad has a very long history. For Czechia this is a legendary place, where the city of Prague was predicted.

I love the magic of this place, its atmosphere and tranquility. I hope that I will be able to share this with you.

We visit the whole site, going through the fortification's gates, which were previously protected the hill of Vyšehrad. Finding the romanesque rotunda and basilica, gothic church and famous cemetery, where the best of the best from Bohemia were buried - Dvorak, Smetana, Capek, Destinova etc. I know, visiting a cemetery it is not nice place to see, but here it is different. This a masterpiece.
At the end, we can discover casemates. A place, where the soldiers were able to transport the entire army without being noticed.

Of course, there will be an amazing view to the whole Prague.

Prague streets are connected by many passageways that many pass by. I will explore with you the ones with some impressive architecture and decoration from mainly the 1900's. You can also enjoy the exhibition of the finest Moser Glass in their beautiful historic showrooms.
Instead of Starbucks and cafe chains we can enjoy one of my favourite local cafes that are full of history and character with a coffee break in one of them. I end the tour at another where you can also have a meal.
We will see Gothic and Baroque churches off the beaten track and learn a little about the history and religious wars.
This tour can also be adapted to suit your particular interests and will include practical tips on what to see, where to stop for a meal or a break and some interesting small museums.

He was one of the most powerful kings during European history. He was not only the Czech King, also he was the emperor of the Holy Rome Empire. And he needed a castle to live and also place where he could bring the Crown Jewels of the Czech kingdom and the Holy Relics.

So, he built Karlštejn Castle.

The castle housed the Crown Jewels in the Chapel of the Holy Cross for 200 years - a truly amazing architectural jewel with its rich Gothic decorations!

This 14th century Castle is situated about 30 miles from Prague in a very beautiful Czech countryside around the river Berounka. During our tour you will see how the emperor Charles the 4th lived, where he slept, where he accepted visitors or contemplated. You will see the gothic Castle from the 14th century with the preserved furniture and valuable artistic gems.
