Private day-trip from Kyrenia to the "Wild West" and The Maronites of Kormacit

The beautiful untouched nature of the "Wild West" is our background for an ethnographic journey through the history of Cyprus. From the stone age to modern history, we learn the different civilizations, which inhabited the island and how they interfered. We study the unique blends which resulted from cultural encounters, sometimes unique in the world: Roman mosaics in Christian basilicas, Gothic architecture in Orthodox churches, Armenians and Christian balconies alternating with Ottoman bay windows, etc. We visit the Maronites, a Catholic community from Lebanon, which settled in Cyprus since the medieval ages and managed to survive in a rather hostile environment under Orthodox / Muslim rule. Our lunch is a unique experience with authentic Cypriot specialties in the backyard of villagers or at the cooperative house of Bağlıköy / Ambelikou. I'll show you why being a Cypriot is not about genealogy but about a lifestyle! It is a philosophy of blending influences and creating something unique.
