The history of Zadar goes back 2000 years into the past. But on this tour we will focus on the modern history of the 20th century. This period was very turbulent for Zadar. After the First World War, Zadar came under Italian occupation and the fascist regime of Benitto Mussolini. During the Second World War, Zadar was bombed and destroyed. The city was reduced to ruins. After the Second World War, Zadar was finally liberated from the fascist regime - but as part of Yugoslavia it came under another totalitarian regime - communism. One regime after the other.
