In this tour we will spend a half-day (4 hours) in gorgeous Varazdin, exploring its wonderful history that is present as a layout of its historical center and its many palaces, churches, old merchant houses, and a castle. But besides this, we will visit three of Varazdin's museums: the Old Town castle, (also known as the Old Town, a rare castle in Croatia that still holds furniture and artifacts belonging to diverse historical periods), the Entomological Museum, and the Sermage palace art collection. After or during this exploration, we will also go to a local restaurant or café to better understand the local culture, and to gain a deeper understanding of how life in this significant Northern Croatian town unfolds. On this tour, I will share with you a lot about the development of Varazdin in the context of the area of Northern Croatia, history, religion, and social aspects.
During the first part of our tour we will visit places such as: - King Tomislav square, - Stancic square, - the Vatroslav park, - the Cathedral, -the Crafts square, and more. - In the second part of the tour, we will visit the 13th century castle of Varazdin - coffee or lunch in one of the local Varazdin's restaurants or cafés. - We will then continue to the Entomological Museum of Varazdin, where a wide variety of insects has been collected by a local biologist in the past century, from the nearby forests. - Continuing from there we will reach a Sermage palace where a collection of valuable paintings of "Old and new masters" as well as some famous 20th-century painters, is held. NOTE: This tour can be modified if you would like to visit the Varazdin cemetery, known for being on a list of significant cemeteries of Europe due to its park-like appearance and monument.
