Welcome to my hometown, welcome to city Split! Split is the largest city on the Croatian coast and one of the most historically rich places in the Mediterranean. Together, we’ll explore the city’s compact, pedestrian-only center, which is home to the nearly intact 4th-century Diocletian’s Palace. We will explore its underground chambers, and the St. Domnius Cathedral. We’ll stroll through the palace walls and gates, visit the medieval Jewish ghetto and take in one of Split’s most iconic spots - the Riva, the main seafront promenade. I’ll share the fascinating story of Diocletian, one of the most successful Roman emperors and also one of the worst persecutors of Christians in history. You’ll learn how his palace transformed into a medieval Christian town, and why we have the oldest cathedral in the world! And...if you're into sports, I’ll tell you why Split is known as the sportiest city on the planet…
All of my tours are completely customizable—the clients get to choose the pace, the sights they want to visit, when to take breaks, photo stops, and more. However, here are the general highlights of the tour: HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The historic Old Town of Split, featuring Diocletian’s Palace (4th century AD) The palace basements, one of the best-preserved parts of Diocletian’s Palace – free tickets included St. Domnius Cathedral & the ancient Temple of Jupiter (Medieval / Early Christian baptistery) The impressive Peristyle square The famous Riva – Split's seafront promenade The Golden Gate and the Grgur Ninski statue The medieval Jewish Ghetto (and the 16th-century synagogue, the third oldest in Europe!) for those interested in Jewish history Pjaca Square – the first medieval square built outside the palace walls The Fruit Square – the second medieval square

Split, Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia
The meeting point will be at the Riva, the famous seafront promenade, near the bronze city model. It’s just a few steps toward the sea from the outer side of the Bronze Gate (South Palace Gate) – the entrance to the Diocletian Palace basements – and close to the main parking area. OR If you're arriving by cruise ship, we can meet at your ship’s dock. OR If you're staying in the Old Town, we can meet in your hotel lobby.
