This tour gives you the perfect opportunity to explore Cavtat, the southernmost town in Croatia, and it's surroundings. The small town of Cavtat used to be inhabited by the Illyrian tribes before it became a rich Roman colony, fell to decay and then transformed in the 2nd most important naval port of the Republic. Cavtat should not be missed, because of its rich culture, remarkable stone houses hundreds of years old, with each stone telling a story, gardens of rose and bougainvillea bushes, lemon & orange trees and lilac branches forming natural eaves making shade in hot days which makes it the perfect half day trip and a refuge from the busy streets of Dubrovnik. The power of river Ljuta had been continuously used for centuries, it now houses some of the most important and well preserved mills in all of Croatia. Besides all the natural beauty, Konavle region is the home to some of the best home made food prepared in a traditional way!
- We start the tour at the cruise port or your accommodation; pick up with a modern vehicle. - Our 1st stop is a viewpoint overlooking the impressive city walls of Dubrovnik. - We'll be driving along the coast and enjoy beautiful vistas of islands and small villages for around 30 minutes until we reach Cavtat. - After arriving to Cavtat, we'll park the vehicle and continue our tour on foot since the historical centre is a pedestrian zone. - We will pass next to the remains of the 15th century city walls, the Rectors palace and a church of Saint Nicolas. We'll follow the Prijeko street towards the Church of Our Lady of the Snow and continue down the waterfront decorated with palm trees. - After strolling down the promenade on Rat peninsula in Cavtat, we'll continue driving towards the river Ljuta where we'll meet with a member of Đivanović family who will show us the mill and stamp mill that have been in the family since the 15th century. - Traditional lunch in a local restaurant - Drive back to town.
