This tour gives you the perfect opportunity to explore the cities of Dubrovnik and Cavtat, the southernmost towns in Croatia, in just under five hours. Dubrovnik probably doesn't need a special introduction but Cavtat might be unknown to you. The small town of Cavtat used to be inhabited by the Illyrian tribes before it became a rich Roman colony. Even though traces of Roman culture can still be seen scattered around the peninsulas, Cavtat nowadays is best known for its planned streets and monuments from the Republic times. Cavtat should not be missed, because of its rich culture, remarkable stone houses hundreds of years old, with each stone telling a story, gardens of rose and bougainvillea bushes, lemon & orange trees and lilac branches forming natural eaves making shade in hot days which makes it the perfect half day trip and a refuge from the busy streets of Dubrovnik. Getting to know these two thriving cities with a local guide that's also a passionate art historian & artist is the way to go!
- We start the tour at the cruise port or your accommodation; pick up with a modern van. - Our 1st stop is Pile gate from where we'll head out to explore the town. - After an hour of walking around Dubrovnik and covering the most important monuments we will get picked up again and continue to Cavtat (approx. 30 minutes). - We'll be driving along the coast and enjoy beautiful vistas of islands and small villages. - After arriving to Cavtat, we'll park the van and continue our tour on foot since the historic centre is a pedestrian zone (apart from the tenants vehicles). - We will pass next to the remains of the 15th century city walls, the Rectors palace and a church of Saint Nicolas. We'll follow the Prijeko street towards the Church of Our Lady of the Snow and continue down the waterfront decorated with palm trees. - Short panoramic stop at Srđ hill before returning to port/accommodation. - The tour can be customised for bigger/smaller groups, adding content (visit to museums) and by adding group lunch
Contact your local guide to know more!!
-This is mainly a walking tour concentrated within the old towns Dubrovnik and Cavtat. -Between the walks we will move around by a clean, modern van with AC.
