The Elqui Valley is a fascinating place, known for the "clearest skies in the world" it is particularly suited for astronomical purposes, enjoying an average 300 clear night skies each year. Vicuña is the principal town of the Elqui Valley . It is a picturesque town also the hometown of the Nobel Prize-winning poet, Gabriela Mistral. The main square is mandatory stop where you can see ancient trees, sculptures and motifs dedicated to Gabriela. The Elqui Valley is also known for the production of pisco, (Chile's most famous brandy) which is prepared with different varieties of Muscatel and Torontel grapes grown in the Valley I invite you to discover this hidden gem and enjoy the beauties of this magic and enchanted land that is waiting for you!.
I will pick you up at the port of Coquimbo or whatever you are. The tour begins in the city of La Serena and I will give you a brief introduction of the it . Then after we will take the route 41 towards the Elqui Valley. The first mandatory stop will be the Puclaro Dam and its breathtaking panomaric view (close on monday). Continuing with the tour we will head to Vicuña to visit the most touristic local attractions as the Main Square, the museum of Gabriela Mistral (close on monday), the marketplace and an artisanal pisco factory where you can taste and purchase pisco. We will have lunch in a typical restaurant to taste delicious regional food. After having lunch we are going to came back to La Serena to visit the lighthouse a regional monument located in the sea avenue before coming back to the port of Coquimbo.
