Downtown Toronto is packed-full of intriguing art, architecture, historical sites and modern landmarks. On this tour we'll weave together a unique combination of Toronto's refined architectural detail, its important public spaces, and its most popular artwork. We'll see works from famous sculptors, architects and graffiti artists (even a Banksy) plus take a look at how Toronto's heritage has been preserved, and how it blends in with more modern buildings. I planned this walking tour for you to see a lot, without rushing. I want you to experience the unique things that us Torontonians love about our City, and to have time to take it all in. There are many opportunities to take breaks, capture pictures and ask questions, as well as search for some souvenirs. On a personal note, I have a Masters in Urban Culture and I can share a lot about Toronto's creative side with you. As a matter of fact, we'll even get to visit my old office which is a heritage building and busy arts centre!
-We'll begin our tour at the historic Royal York Hotel and make our way to see Toronto's Flatiron building & dog sculpture. -Then it's over to the TD centre designed by Mies Van der Rowe before heading to Old & New City Hall. -From there, we'll make our way to the Art Gallery of Ontario - designed by Frank Gehry (a local!). -Behind the gallery is a gorgeous park full of sculptures & stories. Here, we'll grab some refreshments and take a short break before we go to Graffiti Alley. -After snagging some great graffiti photos, we'll go through the garment district and to Roy Thomson Hall, a building so modern that is often been used in sci-fi movies. -Next, we'll see 'The Audience' sculpture at the City's largest stadium the 'Skydome'. Here you'll be able to lean against North America's tallest building & visit a historic 'roundhouse' train-yard. -A short walk away is Toronto's own Banksy, our next stop. -And at last, we'll visit the Scotiabank Arena & Union Station, finishing right back where we started.
