Old Quebec is a charming 400-year-old european-looking town nestled in the narrowing of the beautiful St-Lawrence River. During this tour, I will be more than happy to show you why this UNESCO World Heritage site is regularly ranked among the world's top destinations and how the local life has evolved since the establishment of this French town in 1608. Having travelled in Europe and North America myself several times, I can assure you Quebec City is unique. Some areas, you will feel like walking in Paris, other streets, in London. You will travel back to the 17th century New France period, sometimes getting a glimpse of the Irish heritage of the 19th century, other times discovering the 20th century Canadian period. This city has a lot to offer, from old winding streets to trendy local restaurants, from traditional French architecture to proudly standing monuments. As a history lover, I find the best way to visit Quebec City is definitely by foot, slowly wandering around to observe its heritage.
This tour is my traditional version of a city tour by foot. It is also meant to be adapted to your interests and pace. Our walk is planned with the goal to show you as much as possible, passing in front of most of the main attractions in the historic area. I can be very flexible on the itinerary. Along the way, here are the main attractions we may see together: The National Assembly and Parliament hill area: walk in front of the parliament to see the vegetable garden, the multiple statues and the gorgeous Tourny fountain The fortifications: we may get on top if time allows it Chateau Frontenac area: Stroll on the boardwalk to enjoy the stunning views City Hall Place: Historical facts about the main sights such as the Notre-Dame-de-Quebec church, the Seminary interior courtyard Saint-Jean street, where you can find some of the best restaurants and cafes in the city Without forgetting a stroll in Place Royale and the Petit-Champlain neighbourhood in the Lower Town, the oldest area of the city

This is a walking tour estimated to 4 km (2.5 miles). You must be able to walk and/or stand for the duration of the tour. The itinerary will vary according to your walking capacity. Although Quebec City is very hilly, most of the tour is a moderate exercice as we are going to go at a slow pace. Many stops along the way will permit you to sit and rest for a moment. To avoid the steep walk from Lower Town to Upper Town, we can take the funiculaire (elevator) up the cliff. The cost is $5 per person.
