Imagine crossing a crystal clear river on a suspension bridge above petroglyphs on one side, moss covered limestone wall on the other and towering giant trees above. . . That's exactly what this experience entails. Top Bridge Park is a beautiful place where you can learn so much about the local ecosystem, edible plants, native wildflowers, trees and the animals that live in our forests. I'll gladly provide you with many cool insights so you start noticing things you maybe would have completely overlooked before, plus knowledge that will stay with you the whole time you are in on Vancouver Island. With high chances of spotting spawning salmon, bald eagles, kingfishers and woodpeckers, this family friendly AND dog friendly tour is perfect for a short adventure to introduce you to the beauty of the island and to train your eye to see it in all of its details. We will be covering a full km over a couple of hours, with a few stairs, but won't be walking the entire time, there's plenty of stops along the way.
·Once we meet at the bridge entrance, we'll enter the forest together. ·Already from the parking area, there's a lot of edible plants that vary seasonally that we'll able to look at and maybe even sample! ·As we walk under the canopy, I'll point out the different trees that compose our forests & the role they play in our Coastal Temperate Rainforest Ecosystem. ·Moving along the river we'll touch base on a bit of history as the riverbank is full of historical scars from glacier scrapes to fossil beds. ·Back in the forest, I'll introduce you to towering giants and their role in our world, clearly showcasing their importance. ·Moving along, lots of berries and rare plants and flowers await! ·The second part of the trail will take us back to the parking lot as l dive deep into all the animals that live on Vancouver Island, from bears to Orcas. ·In the end, we'll return to where we started, ready to cross the bridge and marvel at the hundred year old petroglyphs!
