If you want to experience the historical side to Montreal without omitting the more day-to-day aspects, you are in luck! You will see what makes the old city so special when you go down the cobblestone streets lined with centuries-old buildings. From churches, banks, markets and more, explore the four "eras" that marked the history of the city: First Nations, French, British, and Canadian/Quebec. This is the perfect tour for getting to know how Montreal became the city it is. As you walk with me, you'll glance at various buildings from different centuries. That said, it's at Place d'Armes, right across from the basilica, where it all blends into one giant image, unlocking the secret to what makes this city so unique!
After we meet, we will cover the following stops during the tour: - The impressive Notre-Dame Basilica (outside) - The neoclassical Bank of Montreal - Place d'Armes and its numerous statues - World Commerce Centre's piece of Berlin Wall (for the longer tours) - Square Victoria and a glimpse of the underground city (for the longer tours) - The Pointe à Callière museum's observation deck (when open) - Cours Le Royer and the location of the first hospital - Rue St-Paul (pedestrian street) - Place Jacques-Cartier - Bonsecours Market and its niche boutiques - The sailors' chapel, Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours (if no mass) - Château Ramezay (outside and garden) - City Hall (open during the week) - Champ-de-Mars and the traces of the fortifications * This itinerary can be customized to suit your needs and preferences. Do not hesitate to contact me.

This is a walking tour. I suggest wearing comfortable shoes, and bringing a rain jacket or an umbrella if the weather is bad.

Place d'Armes, just outside the Bank of Montreal. Otherwise any location within the Old Montreal is good, including your hotel if it's in that area.
