If you want to make the most of your visit, how about getting a guide for the full day? Start with my walking tour "Montreal throughout the centuries", where you will explore both the old city and downtown during a 3 hour stroll. By then, you'll have understood the basic history of Montreal, examined buildings of various architectural movements, as well as navigated throughout the underground city. Hungry? Choices are endless. Try our specialties (smoked meat, poutine, etc), pick a downtown food court where each one can choose something different and still eat together, or opt for one of the many signature ethnic restaurants. After lunch, we have options. We can explore the iconic Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood, climb Mount Royal, go towards the Olympic Stadium (currently closed for renovations), take a ferry ride to the Expo 67 landmarks, go to Little Italy (consider lunch in that area!), see Montreal by bike (rentals available at a cost) or do a drive-by of all major sights (if you have your own car).
- The Pointe à Callière museum's observation deck (when open) - The impressive Notre-Dame Basilica (outside) - The neoclassical Bank of Montreal - Place d'Armes and its numerous statues - World Commerce Centre's piece of Berlin Wall - Square Victoria and the Parisian metro entrance - Montreal's tallest tower, with its skating rink - Central station and Place Ville-Marie - Busy Ste-Catherine street - Eaton Centre and McGill metro station (time permitting) - A cathedral and its unique basement. . . (time permitting) - Lunch - Afternoon : completely flexible (see options in tour description)

This is primarily a walking tour, though other modes of transport may be used depending what you choose for the afternoon: - Metro / bus / light rail - Car : if you have your own vehicle and driver and wish to use it - Ferry : you can purchase the tickets at the pier or online with me, or I can purchase them in advance - Bike : rentals are available at various locations I suggest wearing comfortable shoes, and bringing a rain jacket or an umbrella if the weather is bad.
