This is the most prominent peak seen from the Jasper town site. It has 2 glaciers on the mountain and offers a spectacular day out no matter how much walking you are able to do! One glacier is a hanging glacier in the shape of an Angel. Very appropriate because Edith Cavell was a woman who was not afraid to die for her what she believed in. Learn about the incredible story of her life and connect with "the Angel" that lives on her mountain. There will be 5, 000 feet of rock towering above your head and possibilities of seeing ice from the Angel glacier tumble down the mountain like an avalanche. We will always be at a safe viewing point. There are many viewpoints and there are several choices of how far to walk and how high up towards the famous Cavell Meadows you would like to climb. One thing is certain, whether you go for 4 hours or up to 7 hours you will be in awe of one of the purest spaces on the planet!
We can start early like 8:30 am or late like 7 pm to avoid crowds and increase the chances of seeing wildlife. First stop is after 1 km we see the view of the Angel glacier and "Lake of our Ladies Sorrows", a beautiful tarn at the foot of the Cavell glacier. Then we do a couple of switch backs up the morrianes and end up in a photographers heaven for both scenery and wildlife. Ambitious hikers will want to go further and further up the meadows to see an abundance of wildflowers, sweeping views and many wildlife sighting opportunities.
