This time, let's explore the Street Art of São Paulo by bicycle. On the trails, you can find some hidden graffiti. We begin at Paulista Avenue in direction of Consolação Street. After the "downhill", we stop at Roosevelt Square to admire the big murals that replace the old advertisement billboards. From there we cycle towards Santa Cecilia, over or under the Minhocão overpass. On weekends we cycle over, but during the week, under and following the bike lane. In this route, we observe several columns painted by renowned artists and new talents of the local graffiti. After there, we ride to Arouche, República, Luz and Bom Retiro neighbourhoods where we continue looking upwards searching for murals that colour the sides of the buildings in these areas. From that point, the bike tour goes on towards the North area of São Paulo, to the MAAU (Open Air Museum of Urban Art) which boasts over 60 murals on the subway line columns. The tour ends at Youth Park, created in the same place where once existed a prison.
Paulista Avenue - The iconic avenue is our starting point, where we cycle over the most famous bike lane of the city. - Close to the end, at the corner with Consolação Street, we can check some murals and start our ride downhill to the historical center of São Paulo. Downtown - Let's explore the central area of the city and traditional neighborhoods as Arouche, Santa Cecília, República, Luz and Bom Retiro to find big murals that replace the old advertising billboards at the side of buildings. - At the same time, we are going to have more contact with a controversial kind of Street Art, the tagging, called by the locals as "Pixo" MAAU - The Open Air Museum of Urban Art is a mandatory place if you are talking about Street Art in São Paulo. The location is the North Zone of the city, one of the cradles of the movement. The columns of the subway line were transformed by the artists and inspired the local government to renovate this abandoned area.
