Hello! I'm Dirk, your tour guide in Salvador and Bahia! Welcome to this magic city that seduced me...
Itinerary not perfect? Message Dirk Raymond to build a tour that’s just right for you.
The best way to experience the city of Salvador, dive into its history, culture, religiosity, and the habits of the people of Bahia, is to combine the Upper City and Lower City tours into one Full Day tour (see also the descriptions of the Upper and Lower City tours). One of my favorite places in the Upper City is the Pelourinho neighborhood, where besides the beauty of the monuments, squares and colonial houses, you can feel the sympathy, energy and joy of the Soteropoletanos - that's how the locals of Salvador are called - who work and live in this lively neighborhood. Maybe you'll be able to experience some action, like Capoeira dancing or a local drum band performing in the streets. You will have the opportunity to lunch in a cozy, local restaurant and taste one of the delicious regional dishes, such as my favorite, the "moqueca", a stew of fish and or seafood prepared in the African way! This tour offers you an unforgettable experience with satisfaction guaranteed!
We pick you up at your hotel if in the center of Salvador. The itinerary depends on where your hotel is localized in the city and on the traffic conditions. Visited neighborhoods are: • Barra, with a stop at the Lighthouse. • Avenue of Sete de Setembro with Campo Grande and Castro Alves squares. • Then we go to the Santo Antônio to park the car, passing the Comércio neighborhood, where the port lies. • We visit the most important squares and streets of the Historical Center of Salvador on a walking tour for a couple of hours, with time for lunch or a break. After lunch we go for the Lower City: • We drive through a busy area of the port of Salvador. • We visit the lively local market of São Joaquim. • Then we continue through some low-class neighborhoods, like Uruguay that once formed the biggest slum of Brazil. • This takes us to the Itapagipe peninsula where we visit the neighborhoods of Ribeira, Bonfim, and Boa Viagem. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to customize this.

A good part of the tour is done by car, with several stops, and almost half of the time is spent with walking around in the Historical Center, where the client will also have the opportunity to lunch in a typical and good restaurant (of his choice).
