Gent was and is still an important harbour. It kept its historical centre with its impressive medieval buildings; several of them are Unesco World Heritage. Gent is famous for its vue of the 3 medieval towers and of course for the polyptych 'the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb' by Jan van Eyck (1432)'. A canal boat tour is possible. In Gent we'll visit AO the St. Baafs cathedral, where Van Eycks 'Mystic Lamb' can be admired (facultative), the gothic Town Hall, the Bedfort, the counts castle Gravensteen. We'll admire the gothic and renaissance houses. You can climb the Belfort (you' ll need some courage!). The centre of Gent is historic, but not a museum: apart from the monuments it's full of live!
